Day 7- All Buttoned Up

I first saw the button tree on Ali Edwards blog last Christmas and fell in love with it. This year I got to it and made my own. While the button tree is super easy to make it was very time consuming! The styrofoam cone can be found at Michael's, pins and buttons can be found anywhere- Michael's, Walmart, the dollar store, etc. My tree took over 300 buttons and pins, I had to go out and get more as I underestimated just how many it would take, but in the end I love how it turned out! So get your supplies, park yourself infront of your favorite show and get to it!

Day 6

Create a tree full of memories!
This will be my third Christmas with my now husband Cory, and when we first got together I started taking a photo every year at Christmas so I could make an ornament to hang on the tree. You can find at Michael`s these great ornaments that have the date right on them, which I LOVE! You can either buy the frame done or create the ornament from scratch, either way you`ll be able to see the changes from year to year when you dig out and hang your ornaments! I love seeing them and look forward to filling the tree in the years to come!
PS. Don`t forget about your family pets!

Day 5- local finds

I found this wreath at Michael's, I love it on it's own but I thought I'd jazz it up. I added some greenery that I picked up at the local farmers market, I then spray painted and added a chipboard word from Riff Raff- also a local goodie!


Every year at Christmas I remake this wreath. I found the wreath at Michael's and the holly is fresh from the local farmers market. As the days go by the berries and leaves dry up but don't loose their color so it looks great until well after Christmas passes. (The holly can also be found at some florists.)If you're local to Edmonton check out the Strathcona Farmers Market, Saturdays from 8am-3pm and pick up your own holly.

I also found this swag at the farmers market. I got it home, put it in a vase, put in some red and gold bouqet fillers that I picked up at Safeway and ta da.... a beautiful holiday arrangement.

Day 4- Star Light Star Bright

I love these stars. I made one for Halloween and couldn't wait to cover another one with Christmas papers. I got this particular star @ Michael's but I also have bought them at Winners & at Home Sense. To be honest I love stars and everytime I come across one I pick it up. Some craft stores also have wooden stars out at this time of year which can be altered as well.
I covered my Christmas star with Making Memories papers, I then sanded the edges with a small file after I had already adhered the papers. To finish it off I put some bling from Prima and "Merry Christmas" with the Making Memories tiny alphas. I hung mine with tulle but any kind of ribbon would do. This project took 1/2 hour and looks so great hanging on our door.

Day 3- create your own wreath

Create your own wreath, it couldn't be easier! I picked up the wreath, the berries & the bell at Micheal's, there are so many colors to choose from... and practically everything right now is 50% off. The pine cones can be bought pre-painted, I did however spray my own with gold paint. I dug out my glue gun, placed my goodies around the wreath and adhered them in place. My final touch was the reindeer from Riff Raff. I painted it gold, put a red gem for his nose and then amber gems on his antlers to add a little bling. I made one of these wreaths for a few people in my life, you just can't go wrong.

Day 2

This garland was made using Christmas chipboard shapes from Making Memories. I covered the shapes with papers by KI Memories, chose some matching embelishments and gems to accent each shape. I then tied each one together with ribbon from American Crafts.

Day One

I created this for a project at Riff Raff Designs. It sits on a shelf in my living room but would make a great mantle display. I bought a frame for an 8x10 photo, I took different size strips of Christmas paper (I used Making Memories), sanded the edges and adhered them to a brown peice of cardstock evenly spaced. I then spray painted wish gold (find 'wish' here), added two poinsettas and a holly berry embellishment.
