I started this blog just over 2 years ago. Through it I have met some wonderful people and have had the opportunity to inspire others, to teach them and to help motivate them to create. I am however finding that I am not going where I wanted with this, with my work and with my art. I find keeping this blog frustrating, hard and a gloomy chore. That is most defiantly not what I want. So after listening to my inner voices for months now I have made the decision to stop posting here. Those voices tap me on the shoulder daily and tell me to dream bigger so that is exactly what I am doing. I have so much energy and inspiration but I am finding it all overwhelming. I need to acknowledge those voices and do what will make me happy and make me fall in love with my work again. Working from home has been anything but easy, I’m so so so grateful that I get to be at home but I need to refocus and get back on the right path. Will this be the end of this blog / business all together? Truthfully I don’t know but I think so, I do know though, that it feels right. I have my personal blog where you can still follow me, still find inspiration but it will be because I want to post and not because I feel I have to. I will be leaving this blog open to read because of the archives, perhaps that will change I’m not too sure. I do know that I have so many ideas and projects in my head that it feels as though it may burst and most of those ideas have nothing to do with scrapbooking. I feel I turned this blog solely into that- a scrapbooking blog and I don’t want that. I want to create, to try new things and to share all of them with you. So with that my friends I am off. Hello Friends! I've been MIA doing a bunch of DIY projects around my place and planning new ones to try. When you can't afford new furniture sometimes a trip to Ikea for inspiration and a fresh coat of paint can transform your current pieces into fabulous new furniture. When I'm done my current project I'll post it up on my personal blog. For now I'll share a couple layouts I did for Treasured Memories and Riff Raff. I also have a new kit to sell at Treasured Memories- a baby album kit, one each for boy & girl. This is not a class and will only be sold as kits. I'll put pics up up my demo when I have them edited. I also have couple of my current favorite inspirational quotes posted here.

This is how I spent my weekend! It was marvelous! Being outside however cuts back on creative time, but taking a little time off is good for the soul. It re-energizes you, allows new ideas to form and most definitely lifts the spirit!
I did sit down one afternoon last week and plan out my classes for the next 6 months, the biggest chunk being my Christmas classes! I know- Christmas! I am due to have this fabulous baby at the beginning of November and that is also when I start teaching all my Christmas classes! Yikes! So I am planning ahead.... probably for the first time EVER! I have even started buying Christmas product! Crazy! I am so excited and have so many great ideas to share with you! Can't wait! I also came up with my 12 Days of Christmas projects for 2010! You can go the right hand menu Archives and click on December 2008 and December 2009 to see what I did for the last 2 years, just scroll through the December posts to see them all.

Hello! Check out my canvas class for June, all the details are here. If you can't make it to the class I will be making kits and prepping the canvas' myself for those. Lucky you, but the down side- You won't get to learn all my fancy tricks for coloring the canvas. There's always a perk for coming to hang out with me... I mean other than my fabulous company ;-) hee hee.

I'm also sharing my latest layout for Twisted Sketches, the sketch and the other ladies layouts can be found here. The twist was "handmade" so I whipped up a couple flowers from last Tuesday's Show & Tell. Anam over at Twisted Sketches has also started a design team for cards, she provides a sketch for a card just like she does for the layout! So fabulous! I have such a hard time with cards and this is the perfect kick start I need. Go to the Twisted Sketches blog and check it out!

Good Morning and welcome to May! This past weekend was National Scrapbook Day and while I didn't actually scrapbook for myself I got to hang out with a fantastic group of ladies that were. I hope that you were able to find time this weekend to do something for yourself, be it scrapbooking or not. I was at Treasured Memories on Saturday running make n' takes for the croppers, tons of fun and tons of laughs, although I think most of those laughs were at me... shrug!

Just a reminder that tomorrow night at Treasured Memories from 6-8pm is Show and Tell and we will be making these fabulous flowers inspired by the lovely Elizabeth Kartchner. If you're local come drop by.

I'll also be at the store on Saturday teaching this Spring Wreath class, there are spots available so come hang out with me for the morning. It'll be good times. If you can't make the class time there are also kits to purchase. All the details can be found here.

Good Morning Friends! This past weekend our weather was in the mid 20's and it was wonderful. Sunshine- I love you! What does this mean? That we want to be outside every chance we get and that means no scrapbooking! It does however give you an opportunity to take photos to scrapbook during our long cold winter here in fabulous Canada! Always an upside! So don't fret if you think you're getting behind, get outside, enjoy the sunshine! You'll catch up later! (famous last words).
I wanted to say thanks to everyone who has already bought one of my demos, I have sold half of them and I know they're all going to fabulous homes! Remember, if the photo is still up, you can still get it! Also, don't forget about my giveaway here, you have one more week to enter.

I have been going through my baskets of books & projects and couldn't believe how many I had accumulated over the years. So I decided to have a scrapbook garage sale here for the next couple of weeks. It's a no fuss, first come, first serve deal. I have posted pictures, the cost and some basic info about the projects. If you want to purchase one of them, email me and we'll make payment and delivery arrangements. If the project needs to be shipped, shipping charges will also apply (shipping on these is usually between $8-$12). I have attached an "email me" link under each project or you can use the email link on the side menu, you will need to specify in your subject line which project you want. March first! Yowzas! Easter will be here before you know it, spring will bring all things green and beautiful! I love it! New beginnings, fresh environments, Spring cleaning- I'm already feeling the urge to purge and clean. I love that feeling because it inspires me, gets my creative energy flowing! I have been working on more classes, projects and layouts. I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! I had a beautiful & productive weekend. I channeled my inner Martha Stewart and baked up a storm, worked on a few more classes, submitted a few more layouts for publication (keeping my fingers crossed) and stared on a coupe of canvases. All this while indulging in a "For Rent" marathon on HGTV.

This is my sharing layout for you. I made it using a sketch from the My Minds Eye blog. I LOVE how it turned out! I also love, love, love my new Martha Stewart butterfly punch. I have seen it used on so many layouts and had to have one, definitely a fabulous purchase!

I had dropped off a Valentine themed explosion box for display at Treasured Memories and had received a bunch of class requests so I made one just for that. This class and all it's details can be found here. I used the newest papers from Little Yellow Bicycle- Lucky Me, it holds 21 photos and is fabulous for the pictures of those in your life that you're lucky to have! I spoke with Chantel this morning and there are only 3 spots left! Hope to see you there!

Woah! 2pm on Monday and I'm just getting to this post. Sorry. I like to have it done the night before.... but alas here we are. I'm back from CHA and it was fabulous!!! So much inspiration, so many ideas, so many projects. My head is bursting with creative energy! Where to start? I spent the show walking up and down isles and isles of beautiful paper goodness and amazing embellishments. It really was a dream for me to go to this event! I am forever grateful. I have posted pictures here of my favorite booths and experiences. I am currently planning classes to teach & kits to sell. I am also working together with Chantel & KC at Treasured Memories to bring make n' takes and demos to the store. Don't worry, I won't forget about you! I'll have the demos and techniques here as well as when I do them in the store.

I've had some exciting news under my hat for the last month and am excited to finally share. I am now part of the amazing Design Team over at Twisted Sketches. Anam (the creator of Twisted Sketches) creates a sketch, adds a twist and then we (you too) create a layout based on that criteria. Fun! This is my layout from this sketch, the twist was "transparent"- how ever that word moved you. I used transparent embellishments, Heidi Swapp ghost hearts & butterflies. Go check it out and play along. It's great, Anam has done your layout planning for you!

I have been teaching at Treasured Memories full time (at least one class a month) since September but I am now officially part of their Design team. This came about when I was asked if I wanted to be a part of their kits of the month. I was so excited! Of course I wanted to do that! Their kits are super popular and I get to do what I love, create kits and layouts that inspire others! The kit I put together for February went on sale there today, it is called Come Away With Me and is definitely romantic. You can check it out on my other blog here or at the store's blog here. I did 10 layouts and have posted pictures of them all here.

I'm leaving you with all those pictures to check out as your inspiration for today and the rest of the week. Don't forget I am teaching this Saturday from 1pm - 3:30pm at Treasured Memories. Just a reminder that all my classes can be purchased as kits if you can't attend the class time. They all have photos and instructions but I will tell you that there are advantages to coming to class... like hanging out with me. :-)

This Saturday I am leaving my hubby behind and heading off to CHA in Anaheim. For those of you that don't know, CHA is the biggest show for scrapbooking product out there. It is where all of our favorite scrapbooking companies come together to show their latest product releases. Holy crap am I excited, that is after I get over being scared of flying. While there I get to visit tons of product booths, do make n' takes and I also get to attend 4 classes taught by reps from certain companies. The class I am most excited for is taught by Donna Downey and is a canvas album class. I have had one for awhile but just don't know what to do with it. I am really looking forward to coming back from CHA with some new, fresh & fun class ideas to share with you. I don't know if I'll be posting from there so if you don't hear from me next week I'll have tons to share when I get back. I just wanted to share some of the class demos that I have been working on. I am really happy with how they turned out, I think maybe some of my best work. I have demos left for Treasured Memories which I'll be able to share after tomorrow. Cute, cute Valentine's projects- I love love!

These 3 are for Edson's Crop Crazy in April. If any of my blog readers are attending this year I would love to see you! Make sure you check out my classes once they go live! I'll share more pictures and class info once it's all sorted out.This demo is for a private class I'll be teaching in February. My good friend Anne Marie attends a woman's church group that meets once a month and she asked if I would come and teach a project to them. I of course said "uh... yeah! How great!"

I'll be back later this weekend with more demo pictures and my "personal" layout. I also put up a Technique here. Check it out, it is one of my absolute favs!

I made a layout just for me! One week done, 51 to go.
On a very exciting note I have been asked to go back to Edson for their annual Crop Crazy and will be teaching 3 classes that weekend. It is taking place April 16-18 so if you're local come check it out! Creative Pages, the store in Edson was sold to a new owner- Kyla, whom I haven't met but am very much looking forward to. I am also very grateful to her as she has asked me to come teach without having met me. Perhaps someone was saying good things about me? :-) I have other exciting news but it will have to wait until my next post. I have demos (7 to be exact) that need to be finished. I promise to share pictures when I get them done. Until then, have a fabby week friends!

Hello 2010

Happy New Year Friends! I hope all of you had a wonderful wonderful holiday. I was lucky enough to have 2 very lazy weeks off. No work, no scrapbooking, no planning- a much needed break. I am however looking forward to this year for so many reasons, personal & professional. I, like many of you sat down at the end of December and thought about what I wanted for the new year and what I didn't want- I think that's probably the key to following through with your goals. Decide what you do not want and when you find yourself slipping back into those things nip it in the butt and get back on track. I choose to use the word focus as opposed to resolution which for myself packs nothing but negative energy. Ask almost anyone and they say things like "why make resolutions, I never do them"- see! yuck! So focus it is, I decide where I want to be and want I want to accomplish and I focus on those things. When I find myself getting side tracked I get refocused and move forward. As I type that I think Ha! That was not how 2009 went for me, I found myself sidetracked most of the time. However, I now know what I don't want and this year I have big plans to follow through and make 2010 rewarding so at the end of the year my heart is full and I can say "I had a great freakin' year!"
All of this applies not just to everyday life but to our scrapbooking which I really want to make part of my everyday life and not just because I have a project or a deadline. A few things I am focusing on for this year and this blog in no particular order...
-give life to my Etsy store and create for it (yes I have an Etsy store that I haven't done anything with)
-design fresh, exciting projects for my blog
-have more projects for purchase (I had a great response to the ones I did post so I think I could do more for you and in the end for me)
-teach more
-post here once a week, even if I don't have a project to share
-submit my work for publication
-keep sharing Inspiration Monday and Technique Thursday with you
I have also challenged myself to completing one layout a week for me!!! Now that may not seem like much but trust me I have a heck of a time getting any work done for myself and that just will not do this year! Perhaps I should post them here for you.... then I am accountable to someone ;-)
What are you working on this year, what challenges and goals are you making for yourself? Just remember that it's okay to get side tracked, recognize that you're going there, stop, get refocused and get back at it!

5 Days until Christmas

Hello Friends! Five Days, that's it. I can never believe how fast Christmas comes, for me Christmas celebrations begin on Wednesday. So I only have 2 more sleeps.... and quite a few things to finish, so I best make this short. I hope that all of you have a wonderful holiday with your families & friends. That you get some down time, some me time and a whole lot of relaxation time! I can't thank all of you enough for your support this year, your encouraging words, your emails that truly made my day. Thank you for sharing your thoughts & stories with me. I really couldn't do this without friends like you. This will be my last post until the new year so until then- be safe, be merry & eat until you think you might blow out the button on your pants ;-)

On the 12th Day of Christmas

On our last day I have 2 project ideas for you & a give away! Enjoy!

Glimmer TreesSupplies Needed:

-Cardstock

-Glitter

-White Glue or Spray Adhesive

Step 1: Click here to download a cone template from Martha Stewart. Thanks Martha!

Step 2: Cut out cone template (ignore bit at bottom of this download)

Step 3: Use your template on cardstock to create your cone. Either cut around template with a craft knife or trace the template and then cut out with scissors.

Step 4: apply double sided tape to the small edge of the cardstock

Step 5: Roll paper inwards to create your cone

Step 6: Cover your cone with adhesive. I used a foam brush to apply white glue.

Step 7: Cover your cone with glitter. Make sure you have something to catch the glitter so you can pour in back into the container.

Step 8: Let dry.

Step 9: Repeat process with other colors. For the larger tree I enlarged the template and repeated the above process.

365 Days of Gratitude in 2010

This project is one I truly love to do. To write in a "Gratitude Journal", to end each day writing down one thing (or more) that I am grateful for. Whether it be the obvious ones like family & friends or the fact that my car started when it was 40 something below with the windchill. No matter the day, or my situation there is always something to be thankful for!

For this you'll need a day timer that allows room to write for each day. I recommend you wait until after Christmas (but before January 1) to go buy a day timer. They go on sale for 50% off at places like Chapters and the Calendar Club. I covered this one but if the one you buy is nice on it's own then it may not need any "dressing up". What's important is that you write in it. Have fun with it!

On the 11th Day of Christmas...

Star GarlandAs far as difficulty level goes this project really doesn't get much easier and I think it's so fabulous! Simple & beautiful!

Supplies Needed:

- Small tin stars (found at Micheals)

-Ribbon. I used gold but any color would go with these stars.

-Crop-a-dile

Step 1: Remove the ring that is used to hang the star.
Step 2: punch a second hole across from the existing hole. You will need a crop-a-dile or other heavy duty punch to go through the tin.
Step 3: Tie the stars together with ribbon. I looped the ribbon through, then tied it off in a knot.
Step 4: Add bows. I put another piece of ribbon through the hole and tied it off into a bow, trimming the ends off "fancy". Depending on how thick your ribbon is you may need to punch a slightly larger hole in your star.
Step 5: To hang the garland I simply looped a piece of ribbon through the two end holes and tied it off into a knot.
Simple & fun!

On the 10th Day of Christmas...

Riff Raff Ornaments

Supplies Needed:

- Riff Raff Chipboard- Christmas themed words or shapes

-Embossing tools, clear powder & a watermark pad. I use Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel- so great.

-Alcohol inks and applicators. I just use pieces of felt on the end of a cloths pin

-Ribbon or Wire (we'll discuss the wire later)

Step 1: Emboss the Chipboard with clear powder to create a glossy surface. We do this so we can apply alcohol inks. Alcohol ink directly onto chipboard soaks in and doesn't create a bold color.

Step 2: color your word/shape with alcohol inks. For HoHoHo, I used 2 alcohol inks from Ranger-copper first and then applied 2 coats of red. For Believe- I used Gold Metallics from Ranger. Let Dry.

Step 3: Flip over and color in the back of the chipboard. I just use red and I just apply it to the chipboard.

Step 4: Emboss with clear powder again to create the glossy effect again. It also helps to stiffen up your shape.
Step 5: Hanging your word/ shape. For HoHoHo, see below. Believe at the top of this post is hung with ribbon. Just looped through and tied in a knot.

For the HoHoHo: I used a paper piercer to poke a hole on each end of the word.

I then used used wire to hang this word with. The wire was very hard to work with and I would recommend using ribbon!

Believe Blocks Supplies Needed:

-Wooden Blocks, mine are cut from a 2x2 & a 1x2

-Various Paints, these are acrylics

-Sanding Tool

-Alphabet Stamps,I have used foam stamps

-Adhesive, I have used hot glue

Step 1: Paint wood blocks, let dry

Step 2: Sand the edges of the wooden blocks. We're doing this to remove the paint to allow the wood to show through. This creates a "vintage" feel.

Step 3: Figure out how you'd like your blocks to be assembled & eventually adhered together.

Step 4: Stamp the letters for the word you are using, let dry.

Step 5: Assemble your word and adhere the blocks together.

I got this idea when I was browsing through Hallmark, another one of those "I can do that" moments. Keep your eyes peeled, you never know where you'll find your inspiration.

On the 8th Day of Christmas

Cookie Cutter OrnamentsThis project puts a fabulous new spin on the traditional cookie cutter ornaments.

Supplies Needed:
-Various cookie cutters
- Pattern Paper and/or photos
-Diamond Glaze or Glossy Accents or other clear liquid adhesive
-Ribbon

Step 1: Apply adhesive to the top of the cookie cutter. The top has a wider lip to apply the adhesive on.

Step 2: Adhere to paper, let dry.

Step 3: Cut out using a craft knife & cutting mat

Step 4: Using a crop-a-dile, punch a hole at the top of the cookie cutter

Step 5: Loop ribbon through the hole & tie a knot. The knot will keep the ribbon in place when your ornament is hanging.

Use pictures for your ornaments instead of pattern paper, they make great keepsakes!

On the Seventh Day of Christmas...

Custom Covered Day TimersThese super easy day timers make the perfect stocking stuffer or inexpensive goodies for all of your friends.

Supplies Needed:
-Generic Day timer, found at Dollarama for $1
-Pattern paper
-Coordinating Embellishments

Step 1: Measure your cover. For this I am not wrapping the paper around the spine, just adding a piece of paper to the front & to the back.
Step 2: Cut 2 pieces of pattern paper. My cover was 3 3/4 x 6 3/4, I cut my 2 papers to 3 1/2 x 6 1/2

Step 3: Ink the edges of the paper.

For this one I also adding in some stamped dots.
Step 4: Embellish your papers as you choose.

If you are adding in paper flowers you will need to adhere down each petal so that they don't get snagged and rip off.

I put a rub on, the year, paper flowers and some bling.

If you are adding ribbon or tulle to the binding, you will need to take the calendar booklet out of the cover, add the ribbon or tulle and then put the calendar booklet back in.

Wall Hanging Supplies Needed:

-Chipboard letters (these are 8")

-Various coordinating pattern papers

-Coordinating embellishments

-Ribbon

-Jump Rings

-Blending tools and Distress Inks from Tim Holtz

Step 1: Adhere your letters to your pattern paper and then cut out

*I am lucky enough to have a local scrapbook store that has 8" letters for their Die Cut machines but you could improvise and print large letters out on your printer or enlarge them on a photocopier. This way you'll be able to choose the font you want.

Step 2: repeat step 1 for the remainder of your letters, alternating your pattern papers

Step 3: using a blending tool ink the edges of your pattern papers. I used Walnut Stain & Antique Linen. See this Technique Thursday where I discuss the blending tools.

Step 4: add embellishments to your letters. I have added a couple of gold rub-ons, Pearls from Kaiser Crafts and a Prima poinsettia.

Step 5: Decide how you want your letters to hang, punch holes (I use a Crop-a-dile to punch my holes) and then hang the letters together with jump rings (purchased @ Michaels)

Step 6: Add jump rings to the first letter and then hang with ribbon. I hung mine from two jump rings so that it would hang straight. I had originally only used one in the center and it made the entire word hang crooked....fyi.

12 Days of Christmas- Day 5

Yarn WreathSupplies Needed:

-Styrofoam Wreath

-Various Colors of Yarn

-some sort of embellishment

-ribbon

Step 1: Wrap wreath with yarn, alternating colors until wreath is full

Step 2: add your embellishments. For mine I used a branch of poinsettias from Micheals, took off one of the flower & removed the center. I put the berries (also from Micheals) through the center hole of the poinsettia, pulled the ends through (these ends are make of wire) and poked them into my Styrofoam wreath to hold the entire thing in place. This could instead be glued in place with hot glue. I then added the red ribbon as the center of my poinsettia, tying it around the stems of the berries.

Step 3: hang the wreath as is or place on a shelf or mantle

12 Days of Christmas- Day 4

Word BlocksSupplies Needed:

-Various sizes of wooden blocks

-Large Red Glitter Letters

-Wide Red Ribbon

-White Paint

Step 1: My wooden blocks were cut from a 2x4, 1x4 & 2x2. I got the wood from Home Depot and enlisted the help of my hubby to cut it down for me. (He was so proud of himself when I finished this project.... like he did the actual crafting. So great!)

Step 2: Paint wood blocks

Step 3: add ribbon around the blocks, adding only a couple of bows

Step 4: add your letters
I love this project so much because it is so versatile, it can be adapted for any word and for any color palette. Have Fun!

12 Days of Christmas- Day 3

Ornaments Supplies Needed:

-clear glass ornaments in various sizes

-various pattern papers- double sided pattern

-various colors of tulle

Step 1: You will need to cut your papers into thin strips, approximately 1/4" strips.

Step 2: you will need to remove the top of the ornament and set aside

Step 3: coil the strips of paper as tight as they can go and then push through the hole at the top of the ornaments. They need to be coiled tight in order to fit through the hole.

Step 4: Repeat this process until the ornament is full. As you add the coils of paper they will unravel inside the ornament. The more paper inside the better.

Step 5: once the ornament is full, put the top back in place and then add tulle around the top, tie a knot or bow

Step 6: add tulle to the loop at the top to hang the ornament with

Ribbon Tree

You will need:

-styrofoam cone

-sewing pins (smallest size)

-various Christmas Ribbon @ 210

-ribbon quantity may vary depending on the width of the ribbon

-a longer strip of ribbon for bow at top of tree

Step 1: cut your 210 strips of ribbon- 2.5" - 3 " long

Step 2: start at the bottom pinning ribbon in place working your way up

Step 3: once at the top, loop your ribbon and pin ends to the top, pin loop against the tree

Step 4: finish of your tree with a bow and longer ends to hang down over tree

12 Days of Christmas is Here!

So excited to share this project with you, I am so happy with how it turned out. I was inspired last Christmas with the yarn ball wreaths that decorated the Starbucks stores. I saw them and was in love, I though I can make that... and so I did. All the supplies were purchased at Micheal's and because just about everything Christmas related is on sale there the wreath cost less than $40. The most time consuming part was wrapping the styrofoam balls with the yarn otherwise it really was super easy. Enjoy & have fun creating your own!

Yarn & Ornament Wreath

You will need:

an 18" wire wreath form

holiday garland @ 2, I have used a red berry & a gold berry garland

6 large Styrofoam balls

6 medium Styrofoam balls

6 small Styrofoam balls

8 glass ornaments

various yarn

ribbon to hang wreath with

Step 1: cover styrofoam balls with yarn

Step 2: fit garland into wire wreath, be sure to pull berries out so that they show once you add all the various balls.

Attach garland in place with tie wraps or floral wire.

Step 3: place yarn balls and glass ornaments in place, moving around until you get it just right

Step 4: using a hot glue gun, adhere everything in place

Step 5: loop ribbon through to hang with or simply hang by the wire wreath form

All the supplies for this wreath were purchased at Micheal's and cost under $40.

3D Ornament

I went to a Christmas party at the Urban Scrapbook this past Wednesday and we did an ornament make n' take. I was trying to make one on Saturday at the end of my class and was failing miserably so I promised to post the 'how to" for the ladies that were in my Home Decor class.The finished ornaments.

Getting started, you will need to use double sided paper and it will need to be cut into squares. I used a 12x12, 9x9 & 6x6.

Step 1: fold paper

Step 2: fold again

Step 3: cut the double folded edge into strips towards the single folded edge, leaving about 1/4 "- Do Not cut through this edge

Step 4: unfold paper

Step 5: take the two center tips adhere them together, use a glue dot for this

Step 6: flip over and adhere the next two tips. Keep alternating the paper and repeating this step

Step 7: Once complete, punch a hole at one end and hang with a ribbon

I am so excited to be back at Treasured Memories teaching. I created this mini book using "Knott Wood" one of Riff Raff's September shapes. I love the autumn season for all of it's amazing colors and this is what you'll find in this book. I used SEI's new Moravia line and the colors and textures are FaBuLoUs!! "I am Thankful" Mini Album Kit

This kit full of Autumn inspiration creates a fabulous mini album for all that you are thankful for. The album pages are various shapes and sizes, there are circle pages, acrylic pages, an envelope page, transparency pages and various sizes of pages. Riff Raff

I wanted to share one of my favorite chipboard companies with you: Riff Raff! This husband & wife team started a company that set out to provide us with a new, fresh & funky alternative to all the various chipboard you can find in stores. Riff Raff was a dream come true for a wonderful friend of mine- Kara. She continues to dream up new ideas and directions for the company and I couldn't be more happy for her and her hunky hubby Ben. I also couldn't be more grateful for having the opportunity to be on their design team. Check out their website and see all the ideas the super talented ladies come up with to use the chipboard. Here are a few of my favorite layouts that I made using the Riff Raff chipboard:

The "Him & Her" are painted black (the heart on Her- red) and then they are covered in Diamond Glaze to create an epoxy finish.

The "W" from the alphabet collection is covered in copper Stickels from Tim Holtz.

The word "Girl" is painted, embossed with clear powder and the heart is covered in red Stickles from Tim Holtz. The "Fancy Flourish" is painted black, glimmer misted with Candy Apple and then covered in Diamond Glaze.

"Around the World" is painted black and then the journaling is placed over the shape.

"Layered Labels" is covered in pattern paper, and the edges of that paper are sanded to leave a white edge. The "Fancy Flourish" is spray painted copper and then covered in copper Stickels.

Mirror Album

Last year Heidi Swapp came out with a mirrored album and to go with the album were two different sets of clear pages, one in a love theme the other in a bird theme. Both fabulous sets. I made this mini book for a class I taught using the mirror album, the bird theme and her Dining Room collection of papers- so cute and the class was a hit! Wedding Frame

This is a frame I taught at Crop Crazy in Edson last month. It is made using the Kaiser Kraft flourish frames (the 3 frames come as a set), their papers and coordinating embellishments. The project is so simple to do, it does take a bit of time to cut out the papers though. I decide which way I want the papers to go, adhere them to the frames, cut them out with a craft knife and then sanded the edges to create a white border- be very careful if you try this as the flourish bits break off quite easily when you're doing the sanding. I then add flowers and gems, tied the frame together and hang it with tulle. Check out the classroom to see another set created using a different color scheme.

I am now selling kits for some of the projects that I will be creating. I shared this information with my classes in Edson and the response was overwhelming and Oh So Wonderful!!! Infact I presold all the kits I had made to put up today but with a whole lot of excitement behind me I went straight to my scrapbook room and started making more.

Books are sold on a first come first served basis pending the receipt of payment.

Payment is made through a PayPal email money request.
How this works:
1. You select the Email Me link and let me know you want a kit
2. I send you a confirmation email and a money request from PayPal
3. You send money to my account via PayPal (you will need a PayPal account)
4. I receive confirmation that money has been received
5. I drop your package in the mail
6. You receive the package in the mail and then you cheer:-)

Happy Birthday Delite Designs!!!

Sometimes I can't believe how fast a year can go by! Delite Designs was an idea I had to share some creativity & inspiration. I have had so much support by some very fabulous people! So thank you, thank you! Sometimes I think I'm going to stop the blog & then I get an email from someone reminding me why I do this, so extra big thanks to those ladies! This past year I didn't do a few things I had wanted to but in their place came other things that I did instead, because of the blog I have met and have scrapbooked for some new and awesome clients! I got to teach and have had offers to teach in new stores... which is very exciting(I promise I will make it there soon). For all of these things I am so grateful. Your support means more to me than you can even understand!

Happy Easter

I made up this garland just in time to send off to my Mom for Easter. I used the Easter chipboard shapes from Making Memories. I just recently bought them at The Urban Scrapbook but I do think they were old product. Keep in mind that most local scrapbook stores have die cut machines that have all sorts of shapes that you could use in place of these and they have them for most occasions.

It is with a great deal of sadness and frustration that I type this post. I’ll make it short, it was recently confirmed that I have a nasty case of tendonitis. Unfortunately scrap booking is high on the list of things I’m not suppose to be doing, the mere action of using a trimmer is too much strain. For now this part of my world is put on hold. Thank you to everyone who always supports me and my projects. See you soon friends!

Happy Heart Month Friends!
I decided to create projects for my Riff Raff CHA demos last month that I could use here as classes for you. I got away from albums (at least for the first part of the month) and made a canvas and a garland. This is my first attempt at a canvas and I'll admit- I'm a big fan. It hangs in my kitchen and every time I walk into the kitchen I think... "Wow, I did that." It wasn't hard and doesn't have alot of detail but it seems to do the trick. The nested hearts and the wings are Riff Raff product that they showed at CHA last week, these two products are February releases (my favorite release yet) and will be available this month.

I bought the canvas at Michael's(I find them the least expensive there)and painted it black. I then used the Riff Raff wings as a mask and spray painted the canvas with copper paint.I painted the heart (also Riff Raff) black and placed type pattern paper behind it and then adhered it with a glue stick to the canvas(there is better glue to use for this type of project but meh). To ensure the heart stay on I also used colored staples through the canvas over the heart. I then stamped a group of words with black paint and then stamped the tiny alphas with gold paint, these add a subtle but nice touch.There you have it, all done.

When I saw the Riff Raff wings and the large nested hearts for the first time I squealed I loved them so much and instantly knew I was making this garland to hang in my home. The heart with the wings are painted then I applied a thick layer of crackle medium and painted the next color so it would dry and crack showing the first color (like weathered wood). Two other hearts also go through the same process but I also embossed them to make them nice and shiny, the rest of the hearts are just painted and embossed, the hearts then became frames for my pictures. I poked holes jump rings and tied each piece together with black tulle through the jump ring. This project took a little over three hours but so worth it in my books.

Happy New Year Friends!

I see great things for Delite Designs in 2009 and I am very excited to keep bringing you ideas and inspiration. I will however be taking January off as I have been focusing my creative energy on a huge project or actually projects that I am working on for Creative Pages' annual scrap booking event- Crop Crazy in Edson, Alberta. I have been asked to come back and teach and am so excited to be doing it again! It has expanded this year to a bigger and better location and will be offering more crop space, more classes with more class space! So exciting! I will be teaching 3, that's right 3 classes this year! One on the Friday night and two on the Saturday, wow! It takes place May 1, 2 & 3. Stay tuned for more details and if you're able I'd love to see you there!

Christmas Give Away!

I taught my Noel album this weekend to a group of fabulous ladies over at Treasured Memories, some of them I knew and some others that were new to my classes. I thought the class went great and I enjoyed spending a big chunk of my Saturday with them! I have added this album to the classroom so that you all can enjoy it too, check it out here.

Christmas Mini Books

I love mini albums! I love to make them for myself and I love to give them as gifts! It only made sense to finsh our 12 days of Christmas with just that.

I am teaching the Noel acrylic album this Saturday from 10am - 12:30pm at one of my local scrap booking stores- Treasured Memories. I made up extra kits for the class because it sold out super fast, so there are a few spots left for you to come hang out with me or you can just buy the kit and work on it at your own pace. As a bonus for our last day of the 12 days of Christmas I will be posting the pictures in the classroom on Monday Dec. 15, instructions and supply list will be emailed out to those requesting them. Monday will also bring a fabulous give away so be sure to check it out!

Day 11

Create an accordion book with pockets that each hold a fun treat! This one has gift cards to coffee shops, the movies and a favorite book store. Other ideas include homemade coupons (ie: this coupon is good for one back rub), love notes, top 10 lists (ie: Top 10 reasons I think you're great)and pictures. Remember it doesn't have to cost a lot of money to be meaningful! I made the accordion book from card stock, chose some Christmas themed papers and embellishments,sat down and got busy. The pockets are attached with brads and a strip of adhesive in the center to keep my gift cards from sliding down. To finish it off, fold it up, tie it closed with some ribbon and give it as is, wrap it up for under the tree or tuck it into their stocking.

Day 10- Gifts Baked Fresh

What a great gift to give and to receive, who doesn't love homemade goodies? Gift giving doesn't need to be about going out, shopping and spending a lot of money. It can come straight from your own kitchen, make your favorite baked goodie put it on a Christmas plate, wrap with cello and some ribbon and you're done. Christmas themed plates can be found at any dollar store as well as the cello. Ikea is also a great place to find inexpensive plates, the clear one I used here was less than a dollar. Another easy gift can be the hot chocolate seen here. Get a mug, add some hot chocolate packages, wrap with cello and you have the perfect gift for a coworker or teacher. It can be that easy!

Day 9

I created this box as a favor for a Christmas dinner party I had for a few girlfriends of mine. Each place was set with one of these boxes along with a matching place card. These paper mache boxes can be found at most craft stores, I bought mine at Micheal's. I then went through my collection of Christmas papers and found some old Scenic Route from a few years ago and decided it was time to use it up. Try going through your old papers, you might just discover some goodies that you've been "saving"! I started by covering the box and lid with coordinating papers, I then added some ribbon with a ribbon charm (also from my scrapbooking stash) around the sides of the top. To finished off the boxes I covered chipboard numbers for 25, tied on some ribbon and adhered them to the tops of the boxes. As a little extra I made place cards with the scraps that were left over and set the table in coordinating colors, the girls loved it! Something so easy to make can have quite an impact.

Day 8- Paper Collage

Create this super easy, yet wonderful collage to hang in your home or give as a gift. Supplies needed: collage frame, different Christmas themed papers, a few embellishments and photos. Arrange the papers on the back of the mat and then tape down, flip the mat over and embellish the squares as you see fit, I only used one photo here but more would also look great! Put the mat in your frame and there you have it, a Christmas collage done. A wonderful keepsake for the holidays in less than 1/2 hour!

Keep in mind that this project can be done at any time of the year, simply switch out the paper and embellishments and have beautiful art all year long!

Day 7- All Buttoned Up

I first saw the button tree on Ali Edwards blog last Christmas and fell in love with it. This year I got to it and made my own. While the button tree is super easy to make it was very time consuming! The styrofoam cone can be found at Michael's, pins and buttons can be found anywhere- Michael's, Walmart, the dollar store, etc. My tree took over 300 buttons and pins, I had to go out and get more as I underestimated just how many it would take, but in the end I love how it turned out! So get your supplies, park yourself infront of your favorite show and get to it!

Create a tree full of memories!
This will be my third Christmas with my now husband Cory, and when we first got together I started taking a photo every year at Christmas so I could make an ornament to hang on the tree. You can find at Michael`s these great ornaments that have the date right on them, which I LOVE! You can either buy the frame done or create the ornament from scratch, either way you`ll be able to see the changes from year to year when you dig out and hang your ornaments! I love seeing them and look forward to filling the tree in the years to come!
PS. Don`t forget about your family pets!

Day 5- local finds

I found this wreath at Michael's, I love it on it's own but I thought I'd jazz it up. I added some greenery that I picked up at the local farmers market, I then spray painted and added a chipboard word from Riff Raff- also a local goodie!

Every year at Christmas I remake this wreath. I found the wreath at Michael's and the holly is fresh from the local farmers market. As the days go by the berries and leaves dry up but don't loose their color so it looks great until well after Christmas passes. (The holly can also be found at some florists.)If you're local to Edmonton check out the Strathcona Farmers Market, Saturdays from 8am-3pm and pick up your own holly.

I also found this swag at the farmers market. I got it home, put it in a vase, put in some red and gold bouqet fillers that I picked up at Safeway and ta da.... a beautiful holiday arrangement.

Day 4- Star Light Star Bright

I love these stars. I made one for Halloween and couldn't wait to cover another one with Christmas papers. I got this particular star @ Michael's but I also have bought them at Winners & at Home Sense. To be honest I love stars and everytime I come across one I pick it up. Some craft stores also have wooden stars out at this time of year which can be altered as well.
I covered my Christmas star with Making Memories papers, I then sanded the edges with a small file after I had already adhered the papers. To finish it off I put some bling from Prima and "Merry Christmas" with the Making Memories tiny alphas. I hung mine with tulle but any kind of ribbon would do. This project took 1/2 hour and looks so great hanging on our door.

Day 3- create your own wreath

Create your own wreath, it couldn't be easier! I picked up the wreath, the berries & the bell at Micheal's, there are so many colors to choose from... and practically everything right now is 50% off. The pine cones can be bought pre-painted, I did however spray my own with gold paint. I dug out my glue gun, placed my goodies around the wreath and adhered them in place. My final touch was the reindeer from Riff Raff. I painted it gold, put a red gem for his nose and then amber gems on his antlers to add a little bling. I made one of these wreaths for a few people in my life, you just can't go wrong.

This garland was made using Christmas chipboard shapes from Making Memories. I covered the shapes with papers by KI Memories, chose some matching embelishments and gems to accent each shape. I then tied each one together with ribbon from American Crafts.

I created this for a project at Riff Raff Designs. It sits on a shelf in my living room but would make a great mantle display. I bought a frame for an 8x10 photo, I took different size strips of Christmas paper (I used Making Memories), sanded the edges and adhered them to a brown peice of cardstock evenly spaced. I then spray painted wish gold (find 'wish' here), added two poinsettas and a holly berry embellishment.

Christmas is in 31 days! I have been working like one of Santa's Elves creating for Delite Designs! I am so super excited to bring you my own version of 12 days of Christmas!!! Starting December 1st I will give you a project everyday for 12 days, leaving time for you to choose and complete those projects! Inspiration and a Give Away!!!

I love Halloween! I don't have kids and I haven't dressed up in years but I love it regardless! There are so many decorations and fun things to make- how can you not love it? Here are 2 projects that I made for my apartment this year.

I bought the star at Micheal's and covered it in Making Memories' papers from their Halloween line. I added a spider and web from Riff Raff's October line.

This garland is made with chipboard shapes from Making Memories and covered in papers from an old line by KI Memories, I discovered them in my stash- very exciting! I then added charms and stickers from various companies. Super cute!

Changes

I have had a heep of changes going on in my life. I got married at the end of last month, I went on a honeymoon, I turned 30. I look to the future with bright, optimistic eyes. With all these changes I simply haven't had my mind on scrapbooking but I have so many ideas I feel like my head is about to burst. I have been buying up product left and right and am so excited to get back into the swing of things and start creating. I will be doing 2 albums for October- one to celebrate what we're grateful for and one for Halloween. Look for the first of 2 albums this weekend!

Hello September 1st! I can hardly believe that the summer months are over and we're moving into fall! While I love summer and all the fun activities and festivals that it brings to my area I can't help but get excited about my favorite time of year- Autumn! I love everything about it... the view, the sounds and the smell of fallen leaves. I love how the air feels crisp and gives you a little hop in your step! My birthday is in the fall which is just another reason to love it... I love a party. This year however is extra special as I am getting married this month- which left my summer months consumed with plans, plans and more plans! So here's to Autumn and all the wonderful blessings that it gives us.
I have so many ideas for Delite Designs and what seems like no time to work on any projects but as I promised you will not be disappointed! Here is a sneak peak at the product for our first class for September- Back to School! All these goodies are from KI Memories and they are super fabulous! Check back Friday Sept. 5 for the finished project!

Hello Summer!!!

If you're one of my Canadian friends- Happy Canada Day!
I love summer! I love the hot sun, long days, patios, camping... I could go on forever! Summer does however put a stall on scrapbooking as I hate being inside when it's so beautiful outside. For the summer I will be taking a break on creating classes for you but I promise to bring you some fabulous classes in the fall! This is my favorite season and I LOVE making projects for it! Throughout the summer I will share any inspiration I come up with and little projects that I create along the way. I have received some emails asking about my "everyday" scrapbooking- I post my layouts on my personal blog and I would love to share them with you, check it out and keep up with the happenings of my life.

Here is a quick project I made to highlight a trip my fiance and I took to the Calgary Zoo. My inspiration lately has been coming from all the different shaped mini albums on the market right now. Everything from circles, hearts, airplanes and trees, there are so many to choose from. This album took about an hour- I punched everything out with my 3" circle punch, added a few gems, a little journaling, some animal print ribbon and a title. Something simple like this gives my pictures a home instead of sitting in a box until I have "time to get to them". Consider that your challenge- take pictures from your trip last summer (because I know there are some of you out there who have them in a box somewhere)and create a quick project. Get out your circle cutter and go to town! I'll leave you with that, have a wonderful summer friends!
